Don’t struggle to find timbers. This timber frame with 6×6 timbers plan has both a 10×10 footprint gable pavilion and a lean-to grilling shed for all your backyard entertainment. The design uses timbers no larger than 6×6. This size timber is readily available at your local big box store or lumber yard.
10×10 pavilion
The 10×10 pavilion includes a gable design with tiebeams, posts, and knee braces. The rafters and knee braces are 4×6 timbers and the rest of the timber is 6×6. We have chosen a skip batten roof envisioning you to incorporate a metal roofing atop. A ridge beam up high provides a great spot for a ceiling fan or other fixture.
Grilling shed
The grilling shed frame is a lean to that sits on (2) 6×6 posts. The post connections are heavy duty that keep it secure. Post to wall detail options are provided so you can pick the right choice for your situation. A solid masonry wall is specified to hold up the lean to. The grilling shed design provides just the right amount of cover for your grilling station while still enjoying the outdoors environment.
Easy access to timbers
The use of normal size timbers that are readily available at every big box store takes away the fuss of getting materials. We provide a wood list so you know exactly what to order.
Plan Details
The core base plan provides you with all the standard views for construction. This plan is offered in an instantly downloadable .pdf format and includes the following on (18) 8.5×11 letter size sheets. In addition to that, our base plan includes material lists that allow you to easily order and budget for all materials including:
- Timber List: Includes real lengths and rounded lengths that you will use to order materials.
Shop Drawings – Cut Sheets
A purchase of this plan includes individual cut sheets for all the timbers. Each timber is assigned on its own drawing sheet with dimensions to assist in layout of the work. The single beam drawings set for this Pavilion Frame with 6×6 timbers includes (17) letter size sheets. Both the pavilion and grilling shed are provided in these shop drawings.

Project Construction Package
The Project Construction Package is designed for customers who are ready to move from planning to fabrication and construction.
It provides detailed timber-frame documentation needed to fabricate and assemble the frame, including construction drawings, timber member information, joinery details, and shop drawing information.
It is useful for:
- Fabricating the timber frame
- Preparing timbers for layout and cutting
- Understanding individual members and their connections
- Planning frame assembly
- Providing detailed information to builders and timber framers

Important Info
Every state, county or municipality will have its own building and code requirements as environments differ from one region to the next. It is possible that your plan may need to be modified to comply with these local requirements and conditions. This is particularly true in coastal areas and those facing seismic events, extreme winds, and heavy snow.
If you are building in any of these areas and depending on the size and purpose of the structure, it is likely that a licensed structural engineer will be needed to provide the necessary calculations and stamp.
All pre-drawn plans from Joint and Peg do not carry a stamp from a licensed architect or a licensed engineer. Please understand that we will not be held responsible for the performance and suitability of this design plan as we don’t know the criteria with where you plan to build, nor the material to be used, nor any additional structure to be implemented in the construction.
If this is a requirement from your local building department, or it proves to be the prudent thing to do, Joint and Peg can provide you state sealed engineered drawings for an additional fee. When it comes to the time to build, we highly recommend that you enlist our engineering service. Otherwise, the onus of this structure’s performance is solely with others, not Joint and Peg.

We authorize the use of our plans for one single project; conditioned on your obligation and agreement to comply with all local building codes, ordinances, regulations, and requirements, including permits and inspections at the time of and during construction.
