Timber Frame Plans

Looking for professionally designed timber frame plans that are actually built with real-world construction in mind? At Joint & Peg, our plans are developed by experienced builders who understand timber, joinery, and jobsite execution—not just design theory.

We don’t just draw timber frames—we build them. That means every plan we offer is practical, accurate, and created to move efficiently from concept to construction.

Whether you’re a builder, carpenter, or capable DIYer, our timber frame plans are designed to help you succeed.

What Makes Our Timber Frame Plans Different

Not all timber frame plans are created equal.

A quality set of plans should come from a designer who understands:

  • The materials
  • The joinery
  • How everything fits together on-site

At Joint & Peg, our design team has real hands-on experience—we’ve worked the materials we design with. That experience shows up in the clarity, accuracy, and usability of every plan we produce.

What Is Included in Our Timber Frame Plans

Our base plans are designed to give you everything needed to:

  • Understand the structure
  • Price the project
  • Begin planning your build

Each plan includes a combination of architectural drawings and material takeoffs to guide your project from the earliest stages.

Core Plan Features

  • Fully dimensioned building layouts
  • Elevations and section views
  • Roof slopes, ridge heights, and overall dimensions
  • Timber layout and structural references
  • Preliminary material takeoffs (wood and masonry)
  • Surface area calculations for estimating finishes

These plans are ideal for:

  • HOA or permit pre-submittals
  • Requesting builder quotes
  • Budgeting your own project

Material Takeoffs & Cost Planning

One of the biggest advantages of our timber frame plans is the level of detail provided for material estimation.

Each plan includes:

  • Wood quantity lists (board footage)
  • Masonry and concrete estimates
  • Surface area calculations (floors, walls, roofs)
  • Organized views tied directly to material lists

This allows you or your builder to quickly understand project costs—something most plan providers don’t offer at this level.

Plan Add-Ons & Advanced Options

As your project progresses, we offer additional services to take your plan from concept to construction-ready.

When you’re ready to build, most jurisdictions require engineered drawings.

Our engineering add-on provides:

  • State-licensed professional engineer seal
  • Site-specific design criteria
  • Material specifications based on your location
  • Structural compliance for permitting

This transforms your design plan into a fully buildable, permit-ready construction document set.

Individual Piece Drawings

For builders who want additional clarity, we offer detailed drawings of each timber member.

These are especially helpful for:

  • DIY builders
  • Complex layouts
  • Timber layout and fabrication

CNC Fabrication Model

We offer CNC-ready 3D models for precision fabrication.

Includes:

  • Fully modeled joinery
  • Collision-free geometry
  • Production files and part lists
  • File formats: .sat and .3dm

Ideal for:

  • CNC shops
  • Prefabrication workflows

Ready-to-Assemble Timber Frame Kits

Available in select regions (NC, SC, GA), we can coordinate fabrication and delivery of your timber frame.

This includes:

  • Engineered plans
  • Fabricated timber package
  • Delivery to your jobsite

How Our Plans Are Structured

Our plans are organized into logical sections to support both material ordering and construction workflow.
